East Lake Station Rehabilitation

Current Status

Construction. New north pedestrian bridge is open. North elevator scheduled to open in February 2025.

Project Overview

East Lake Station opened in 1979 and is one of the first stations being renovated under MARTA’s Station Rehabilitation Program. The first phase includes a new pedestrian bridge and new elevator on the north side followed by a new pedestrian bridge in the south during phase two.

Project Timeline  

  • December 10, 2024: New north pedestrian bridge and parking opens.
  • December – January 2025: North parking lot reopens in stages. Some portions of south parking lot closed for construction storage.    
  • February 2025: North-side elevator scheduled to open. Until then, customers needing mobility access can continue using the south side of the station
  • Spring 2025: South bridge and parking lot closed for construction. All buses and station access will be on north side. Specific dates will be announced when available.  

Throughout both phases, station soccer on the north side remains open.

Station Rehabilitation Program Features:   

  • New elevator on north side of the station
  • New cleaner, safer pedestrian bridges on north and south sides
  • Parking lot improvements with resurfacing, striping, ADA improvements, light poles, and surveillance cameras
