Five Points Station Projects

Overview:

MARTA continues to move forward with creating a better, more connected Atlanta. At the center of it all, our busiest station, Five Points, has served us well. We are giving it the love that it deserves, by redesigning and constructing a state-of-the-art transit hub that will improve service for our customers, create a compelling destination for surrounding neighbors and businesses, and welcome millions of annual visitors to Atlanta.

The Five Points program consists of two parallel projects:

  • Five Points Transformation: This is a major reconstruction of the above-ground plaza and surrounding streetscapes, along with the removal of the existing concrete canopy. This work will create a new and inviting urban space above the station, improve accessibility in and out of the station, improve bus operations, and contribute to the ongoing public and private reinvestment under way in Downtown Atlanta. This project is funded by MARTA and the City of Atlanta through the More MARTA program, and was recently awarded a $25 million federal RAISE grant.

  • Five Points Station Rehabilitation: This is a full renovation of both the east-west and north-south platform levels below the concourse (fare gates) level. Construction began in 2022 and will continue through 2024. Service will continue throughout both projects, although customers may see some areas and access points closed periodically. These impacts will be communicated to our customers through announcements, signage, and social media.
